American
College of Emergency Physicians
The
American College of Emergency Physicians is a medical specialty society that was
formed in 1968 to improve emergency care by setting high standards for emergency
medical education and practice. The College and the specialty of emergency
medicine came into being in response to the public's need for quality emergency
care. Before emergency medicine was recognized as a specialty with unique
training and skills, emergency rooms were often inadequately managed and
staffed. As the number of patients seeking emergency care increased, the need
for change became apparent. The College was created to effect that change and
make it possible to properly train emergency physicians and staff emergency
departments full time, thereby improving patient care and saving lives.
National
Tactical Officers Association
The
only national nonprofit organization in America established by and for SWAT
officers to advance the Special Weapons And Tactics profession.
International
Tactical EMS Association
This
association (ITEMS), in cooperation with other law enforcement and emergency
medical associations, will establish and maintain an organized network of law
enforcement agencies, tactical officers, tactical medical providers, and other
interested parties within the critical incident resolution community. This
network will then be utilized to gather Tactical EMS-related data that can be
disseminated to aspiring and established tactical medical providers and their
teams. It is then, through the association's position as a central source of
information, that the International Tactical EMS Association will contribute to
a reduction in the morbidity and mortality associated with tactical training and
operations.
National
Association of EMS Educators
The
mission of the National Association of EMS Educators is to promote EMS
Education, develop and deliver educational resources, and advocate research and
life long learning.
